Cutting trees in private lot still needs permit

Cutting of trees in private lot still needs permit from Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Cenro Bagac Chief Monitoring and Enforcement Section Chief Romelo Cuaresma said the law against cutting down trees, PD 705 or Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, regulates the act in both public and private lands.

He added RA 9175 or the Chainsaw Act requires the chainsaw must also have permit from the DENR.

Aside from timbers from forest lands, gathering of forest products like tree barks, resin, grass, honey, oil, rattan, nipa, gum, and orchid needs permit.

He warned violation is a criminal offense Cuaresma was guest recently at radio program Bataan at Kalikasan at 91.1 Sikat FM.
